Since I’m not from California, I’m a little lost as to where to look for the top graduate programs in environmental/atmospheric sciences. I’m interested in studying the affects of air pollution and air quality, and so far I’ve looked at UCSB UC Davis and possibly USC (bit of a stretch on that one). Unfortunately the only source I’ve found is school rankings, and many aren’t specific for my major. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good graduate school for my particular interest? Thanks.
Any reason why just California? To find your preferred schools, you should look up grad schools that have your program. Then look at the professors and see if you are interested in working with/in for them. Look at their papers, accomplishments, etc. Find out if they are taking students. A good rule of thumb is to apply 6-7 grad schools. University of Washington comes to mind. Also go to the gradcafe, they will be able to help you out!
