There's an option on the application to attach a photo of yourself...has anyone done this? Would it help you at all?

My son did. He got in. It was a picture of him holding a turtle which he was tracking using GPS for his Eagle Scout project. I really don’t know if it helps but I guess if it is an interesting photo it can’t hurt.

If you interview with your adcom and your interview goes well, it can help to include a photo that will help the interviewer remember you.

not sure if it helps a lot, but it definitely does not hurt you (unless you post a pic of you partying or doing something illegal)

I really like the idea of adding a picture, but is it just a normal portrait of yourself? or do they want to see you doing something?

I think the point of the photo is to showcase your personality. For instance, I sent in a photo of me shark diving. The scuba mask makes it hard to identify characteristics, but you can still tell its me. I picked that photo over others because it showed my playful, adventurous side. Pick a photo that really exemplifies who you are. It will help them put a face with the application and give them a better view of who you are. It makes them realize that you are more that just clubs and grades, but an actual person who is interested in becoming a part of this fabulous community.

I just starred in a play at school and we got professional photos done so I’m sending in one of those pics
