Attaching a resume, good idea or no?

I am thinking of attaching a resume of mine for Cornell app, since I don't think there is space for awards during high school and before. I'll keep it within a page. Is this a bad idea? Or maybe these aren't that much of a big deal?

i feel like it might be overkill...they make the applications for a reason..the fact that they don't have a space on the app for awards means something..

you don't want to **** off the adcom when they wrote "please refrain yourself from attaching a resume" (I think the case for Stanford)

The Stanford app specifies... the Cornell app does not. I think it's fair game; I plan to attach a resume for Cornell and others (sans Stanford)

CNCL: I applied last year. I was accepted. I had a separate list of ec's (3 pages long) and an extra essay explaining my special circumstances :) Hope it helps!

Unless is instructs otherwise, attaching an activity resume is fine.

if your resume sucks, don't attach it.

if your resume rocks, attach it.

if your resume will tell something more about you that is not apparent from your application, do it.

if it just regurgitates (spelling?) what your application says, THAT'S overkill.

"Regurgitate" would be an incorrect word for the context, so the spelling does not matter.

what's the correct word then? I am here to learn.

"Repeats" will suffice.

reiterate? im not sure..im not an english major for a reason hehe

"Reiterate" is also sufficient, but I advise against using abstruse rhetoric for the purpose of attempting to impress, as it exerts a negative effect on your overall writing style.

Be natural.

luckily i didn't reiterate or regurgitate in my essays...whew

i have to second whatever nspeds said, it's weird to have something like "today we went to a party and it was totally aboriginal" or something like that, not only you may get the meaning of word wrong, it makes you looks like a show-er

the only instance you should use jargon is when you are writing about something highly technical.

Hey CNCL,

I sent in my app already and yes I did attach a resume. I think many good points have already been made. So if you want to submit it, go head.

Which school are you applying to again?

Cornell is the only one I am applying this time. I think Cornell is probably already a far reach for me as I have only one term of grade (though not bad, 3.71) availabe, and my hs record isn't anywhere near good either. If I do not get accepted, I'll try a few more schools including Cornell next year as then college gpa will be weighted a bit more. Nonetheless I think Cornell is the perfect fit for me, and I hope adcoms think the same.

But do you think I should still attach the resume anyways even if I've applied for freshman admissions before? As it is quite possible that they have hs records from previous app... (I didn't report scores this time, and it was there)

I think it's alright to attach a resume. Cornell isn't one of those schools that's big on guidelines in terms of applications.

I don't think they'd take anything from the previous app and use it for this current period.

Great idea ONLY if it gives NEW information not otherwise mentioned on your application

well it's written on Stanford's app "We will take things from your previous application"
