<p>hey everyone, just wondering: it is common to attach a resume. If so, is it classified as supplementary material? Also, does it become a hassle for the adcoms or a bonus for your app? </p>

<p>This really varies from school to school. Some applications ask that you not attach resumes because they want to see your passions and therefore only want to see the 6-8 activities that are most important to you. I don't think it would be a bonus because how much more do you do enthusiastically that you can't fit on the form in the first place?</p>
<p>well, i hold quite a few honors for some of my activities and some charity work probably need an explanation. There isn't enough space to fit it in on the commonapp.</p>
<p>I think that it'd be helpful, because for extracurriculars, it's hard to fit leadership roles and awards in that tiny little box. I think that a resume would help really show your passion and ability in your activities, as well as explain some lesser-known activities (see the other active thread in this forumn about resumes) :)</p>

<p>If I remember correctly, the online CommonApp has a box at the end called additional information. You should put it there. If the school you're applying to is not CommonApp, call their admissions office and ask them how you should send it.</p>

<p>Yeah... what if I have won several awards with a certain club (for example, Science Club)? Should I do the same thing?</p>

<p>I think a resume is ideally 1 to 1.5 pages... 2 pages max. The more concise the better, though, the adcoms might be annoyed with too many extra papers. I didn't make a separate category for leadership, I just listed my leadership role under each activity heading.</p>

<p>I'm not familiar with "college resumes" (never sent one in) but when you're applying for a job, HR wants to see one page. College is probably a little more lax because people do have tons of activities and leadership roles. But just remember that they're looking at literally thousands of applications. When you apply for a job and they receive hundreds of apps and resumes, they'll glance through the first page (which should be the only page) and decide quickly if it goes--more or less--in the garbage or 'to be interviewed' pile.</p>
<p>Resumes should be a page long. I would think that most college admissions peoples have been through so many apps (and resumes, I guess, seem to be popular...I never sent one in nor have I ever heard of anyone sending one) that they probably know most of the valid, important activities and honors/awards out there.</p>
