Attempted Terrorist Attack in Detroit

On news this a.m., reporters said government computer experts reading his online activity to determine his evolution into becoming a terrorist, started with his blogging on college sites bemoaning he wouldn’t get into Stanford, Berkeley & CalTech because he blew his SAT – only a 1200…
apparently it was a downward spiral from there.

And my day is made.

LOL

i flew to canada that day and everything was normal, im flying back home on thursday and i’m persian…■■■. i’m sure security is going to be a b**ch

Most people don’t realize that DTW isn’t actually in Detroit. It’s in Romulus, a small town with the airport as our center. So, not only did he not blow up Detroit, even if he had succeeded in his task (though, thank God he didn’t) he would’ve blown up a plane above a suburb (I think that might’ve been mine actually >.<). I see that being very effective, don’t you?

On a more serious note, it was rather frightening as it was happening. I have an uncle who works in the airport as a firefighter, so we were getting texts from him and his buddies right as they got put on alert that the plane was coming, and then after everything was over. We kept getting conflicting stories because the news didn’t know what they were reporting (as always though…) so we were getting everything from “someone set off firecrackers, just a slightly big deal” to “someone is coming in on a plane that is about to blow up your house” and then “we suspect there is a second plane coming, so be on alert.”

On a less serious note, I’m kind of angry (not really, just an afterthought) that they took him to UMich hospital. Wouldn’t some second-rate place be better? UMich is too good for him.

^^^^^^^^20 minutes before touchdown, he could have been anywhere around southeastern Michigan or even Ontario. U-M hospital has a world-famous burn center. Nothing too good for our terrorists…

its funny how you all fret over a terrorist almost hijacking a plane when over the past month several bomb blasts happened in Pakistan.
Although I can’t blame you, America is extremely secure compared to the rest of the world so I guess its more of the rarity of it happening in America…
Point of this story is: Terrorists Suck

oh and I don’t mean HAHA funny I mean I find it… different? haha

I care about that, too. I don’t really see what would be so odd, though, about me thinking it noteworthy that a plane nearly caught fire when it was likely flying over my neighborhood-- especially considering that something like that doesn’t happen here too often.

Actually Omar, there are many safer places than the US. Europe by and large, is much safer from such attacks than the US, so are Canada and Japan.

I read a story that about three months ago about the TSA efficiency (or apparent lack thereof)…they hid an explosive in someone’s back brace and the security in the airport failed to find it. They went back and TOLD TSA that they need to find a bomb…they couldn’t find it. Go TSA? Epic fail

yeah I know,
that stuff can get pretty scary and all, I guess I’m just used to it?
I’m really glad the plane didn’t get hijacked though

oh and I wasn’t saying oh its odd like you guys shouldnt be, but
its just different haha.
