Alright guys i noticed that there are alot of us waitlisters on the forum and i just hope that you guys can please confirm with the schools that you got accepted to and your not interested in to let them know ASAP. Please spread the word, tell all your friends that if there accepted into schools that they are not planning to attend to call the admissions and let them know, so us waitlister can get off the list so we can attend our " tier 2" schools. This is just a message to basically everyone who is accepted into a school that they dont plan to attend please let them know so us waitlisters can get off the list. Thank you.

haven’t decided yet because want to attend spring (re)visits. will let you asap.

you might want to know if individual is male or female because I think most schools like to keep the ratio close.

vivsters - Just send an email to the admissions office.

I’m sorry, but if someone declines a school, it does not mean that a wait list spot opens up. Admission forecasts their yield (% of students offered admission who accept the offer). Based on the yield forecast, they over accept students knowing that some % will not accept. They go to wait lists if the yield projection was incorrect, or if the matriculating students lack some desired talent.

Best of luck to all of the waitlisters!

@Burb Parent: That’s a really important clarification. I was getting the impression that many view the decines as a automatic spot to be filled. It’s not necessarily a zero sum game, although notifying schools of your intentions will certainly not hurt W/L applicants. (btw, most declined schools will immediately ask where you intend to matriculate upon learning that you’ve chosen to attend elsewhere. They like to keep careful notes about these things for future reference).
