There have already been several posts in the last few days of kids being accepted off waitlists (St. Pauls, lawrenceville, deerfield). What happened to the advice that "very, very few schools if any took kids from the waitlist"? I think the advice on how to proceed if you are on the waitlist has been all good advice so let's keep track of this for the kids for next year.

I'll start:
NMH-9th grade-female-no financial aid

Here are a few more that were posted as acceptances from the waitlist:

hotchkiss (as late appl)
taft 10th grade
st. paul's
choate

Somebody was accepted off of the waitlist from Lawrenceville?

Who was accepted from Deerfield?
I think, later on (say, September or August), we should post to say if we DIDN'T get off, as well. For future generations of CCers of course.

AGSAABS....I was wondering the same thing?

I know one boy who was accepted off of the 9th grade day-student waitlist from Lawrenceville yesterday. He is average in class but had acting experience.

When Andover goes to their waitlist, they will choose based on what they need to diversify their classes as a whole. This precludes any notion of a list at all, so the vision of an admission officer going down a list and calling people in this manner is really kind of ridiculous.

thanks for clearing that up localboy2468 i was a bit surprised to hear that andover would approach their waiting list as just a list

I was accepted off the St. Paul's waitlist.

congrats hickton! Do you mind sharing how this came about? Did they call you on 4/10? Did admissions indicate why you were chosen or anything else of interest? Do you need to give up a spot you already sent in a deposit for? sorry for all the questions!!

Well, They called my parents on Friday and told them that I was the first one accepted off the waitlist. It probably has something to do with the fact that two siblings went to the school.

I was accepted last thursday off the Lawrenceville waitlist.

Lawrenceville, girl, ninth grade, no FA

boo x, did they say on ur waitlist letter that you would be one of the first taken off the waitlist? if you don't mind responding.

I think I posted this elsewhere, but there has been movement on the Westminster waitlist (not my son, he did not stay on it), but a classmate of his. Not sure of the details yet. They called him mid-day on April 10th.

All 5 kids whom I know who are/were on Lawrenceville wait list got the same letter. Two (1 boy & 1 girl) were now off the 9th grade wait list. I called the school this morning and talked to one of the admission officers, and the reply was they are replacing those who have declined from taking kids off the waitlist, pretty much a profile match.

thanks for the info aparentoftwo!
