Question #3: what are your strenghs and weaknesses?

Just wondering… I heard that not that many asians apply to Brown.

I’ve heard rumors that Brown is quite selective for asians in admission(i.e. discriminates), while I personally think that it’s just that not that many asians apply to Brown so we don’t get to see that many asians going to Brown.
After all, Brown is known and loved for its open-minded, tolerant atmosphere, isn’t it?

Let’s see how many we have:)

oh, I’ll answer my questions too lol

Vancouver, Canada

economics, psychology

strength: ECs, ACT score
weakness: senior marks, didn’t really like my essay:(

The rumors are silly...and I really don't like this thread lolll.....but Im participating in it anyhow, and i don't exactly know why hahaha

1.NY
2. undecided, altho i'm interested in mcm/neurosci
3. weaknesses : first quarter senior grades (sigh), application is so...radical (yet a perfect representation of who I am) that I personally don't even know how appropriate it is. GPA is a weakness for me as well.

strengths: performer and artist in general/ siemens westinghouse semifinalist/ ECs

gl w/ brown :)
hopefully we'll both get innn

As an Asian at Brown, I don't think it's any more selective for Asians than any other top school. I think Asians are pretty well represented here, although I do agree about not many Asians applying there, I think it's b/c Brown isn't as big of a name school as other Ivies.

by the way, I think I didn't make myself clear on this.

I wasn't trying to criticize Brown (why would I?) but to say that I actually don't think the rumours among Asians are true and that what I think is that since Brown is quite a selective, small school, not that many Asians get in or they don't apply for some other reasons, and that's simply why we don't get to see so many Asians who get into Brown. (at least I haven't)

Also, I mentioned that the main reason why I don't think the rumour is true is that Brown obviously is one of the most liberal and open-minded schools and that such school would not discriminate applicants for their race.

I brought this up just because a friend of mine who actually goes to an Ivy school told me this and we had some arguments

If Brown were such school (that discriminates), I wouldn't have even bothered to apply in the first place.

Sorry, I didn't think you were trying to criticize Brown, I just thought you brought up an interesting point and I was just putting in my two cents, I hope you didn't think I was trying to give you a hard time or anything.

oh no no I was just worried that I might have made an impression that I was saying that 'Brown is racist,' which is actually the opposite of what I was trying to say.
thanks though:)

weaknesses: um, PLME?, GPA is not that great

Haven't heard about the Asian thing but rather, I heard Brown is looking to recruit from the West Coast (this was told to me by my piano teacher, who insisted that Brown would be throwing money at me.. I laughed it off and didn't tell her that I'd be lucky to get in at all.) since they're overrepresented on the East.

Btw, I'm an Asian from California.. doing RD, though.

Question #1: where do you live?
