Attention Current Students - Federal Work Study

Can any of the current students comment, if I should consider taking Federal Workstudy in the first 2 semesters. I have been accepted to SFS and have Federal Work study as my financial package.

Questions is, will it be managable to work and be able to maintain good grades, especially during the first semester when a new student is getting used to everything?

My D is a freshman this year and has workstudy. She works apprx 7-8 hrs a week and finds it manageable.I don't think they let freshmen work much more than that

Work study is actually totally helpful and easy to handle. I worked usually 12 hours (sometimes 16) in the admissions office answering phones. If it wasn't too busy, we could catch up on school reading, and working with other students gave us all the chance to meet new people. :)

Depends on the job. Some, like student guarding or the one I work at, allow you to get a lot of homework done during your shift.
