So what are my Chances? Am I a qualified Student? Am I "in the running" per say?
PLEASE REPLY!!!!

Wow, what a long tl;dr. I’m sure you know you’re definitely “in the running,” so why ask?

Thanks…I’m kinda obsessed…and do you think that my grades are acceptable?..they are kinda on the low side. I’m gonna try really hard next year to get all A+'s and A’s. And I think I posted this to get my self-confidence up as well as knowing my chances for these schools. And I see you are at the Laurenceville…is it good? What were your stats?

Okay, I see you’ve started your own thread. Basically I’m going to tell you what I’ve been telling everybody else - find some way to manipulate your application so that you stand out. Trust me, I’m an Exeter senior/I work at the admissions office, and I see TONS of applications that are just like this. You need some way to manipulate your application so that you’re unique (which I’m sure you are, by the way.) I can’t answer that question for you, so use this time now to find out what it is.

I think you should broaden your net. What is your goal? Is it a boarding school experience, or is it these specific schools? You don’t know yet. Explore some other schools. Check out the Hidden Gem threads. These schools aren’t “small” but less known. I would recommend St. Andrew’s, Cate, and Blair, but there are many out there. Find the school that is right for you-- not the one that has extreme prestige or is extremely expensive.
The reason most people come on these chance threads is to hear what they want to hear–that they will get accepted-- but the BS game is almost wild-card. It’s like probability. The more factors that come in, the less chance that you will be accepted.

Here are things that need to be pointed out–
You’re Indian, and lots in BS are Asian.
You need FA, which will hinder you
You’re definitely a very accomplished person. I am feeling weak just trying to get through reading your initial post.
Unfortunately, there are many applying to these schools who have similar stats. So what do you do?

Add some personality. Make sure you come across as YOU in your essays AND the interview. I cannot stress this enough. Don’t act fake. Don’t be perfect. The reason for these things is to see your fit. Right now, I see a very pushed girl who could fall in with other academically accomplished people. Show that you’re someone with a perspective that will add to the community.

Trim down those stats. I see some things that the AOs are just going to find does not add to your application. This includes:

Working at school dances
Gave tours to incoming 6th graders
Worked on writing positive affirmations for 6th graders (during the summer) of going to 7th grade.
Worked on “Middle School Survival Bookmarks” for 6th graders (during the summer) of going into 8th grade (this summer)
Won poetry contest in elementary about Memorial Day

These schools are looking for things that make you stand out, but the elementary school is outdated, and some of the others are too… pale in comparison to your other work.
I really wish I could type more but… my hand is cramping sooo good luck on your BS search and hope you receive a fat fedex!

Thanks spaceneedlesevie,

I know I am Asian but I am not International and I don’t need a lot of financial aid…and most of the school population has financial aid anyways. I think I will do fine in the interviews if I overcome my nervousness. I think I’m going for the boarding school for the experience because my town has a very academic public high-school. I still am thinking of my essays though…

Don’t worry, I’m Chinese.
But a lot of Applicants are Asian Americans, too.

Just express yourself in the essays and you’ll do fine! You seem like a nice person. Hope to see you in Andover next year and hope we both get in! (I probably won’t but oh well…)
