Attention

AP classes at my school are offered only to the juniors and seniors - plus there's only 5 of them. I took 4, and really don't think that they're a lot different from any other course out there.

^Thats what I mean. AP classes haven't much weight and prestige to them anymore. Anyone can take them. That is why most prestigious private boarding schools don't even offer them anymore. They are a joke, imo.

And no. Ap classes as well as public school are not free. Your parents pay for taxes each year which thus pay for the school systems funding of APs.

Some APs are whack-there was a beef with the UC system and College Board over the AP Biology exam, which barely resembled a college course. However, you must realize, Justinian, that the AP system in the 1960s was only at a few high schools which could afford to teach the program.

"haha, just found out that the AoPs courses aren't free, or am I overlooking something? Are there any that are free?"

No, except there's this thing called WOOT, which basically prepares you for the big proof-writing contests, like USAMO and IMO and stuff. They were free last year for everyone who went to MOP, but I don't know if they'll have the funds to do that this year.

AoPS books are only around $50/book, and one can work through these on their own time. I am sure that AoPS will have the funds to keep WOOT free this year, but not next year as there will be a threefold increase in the number eligible.

so i can sign up for WOOT?
