Au rd 2022

I can’t even create an AU account + I didn’t get any mail from AU

My daughter’s stats: GPA: 3.64uw/4.2w; SAT: 1320. Tons of ECs and community service, NHS, music awards, legacy. Strong essay. Accepted with AU grant, no merit aid from what I can tell.

@kokoro100 Same thing for me. I can see the scholarship but can’t find the actual letter on the website.

This whole yield protection thing really annoys me. Acceptance rates continue to drop, and if a school decides to not accept you because your stats are too high, that literally defeats the purpose of a “safety” school. Ugh. We’ll see tomorrow I guess

@snr2018 Lots of strange acceptances/denials this year. My son had AU #1 and we see lots of acceptances well below his stats (4.5W/34). No letter yet, but it looks like everyone who gets thumbs up can sign on to my AU. It looks like BU for him now. Still good, but he is kind of bummed and confused

They pretty much base their process on interest in the university because they want to maximize yield and probably assume that people with the highest scores and grades but have not expressed enough interest just will not go. This entire process is so stressful, I feel for everyone rn. Even if youre in, paying is a whole new issue

so does this mean anyone who cant get in the portal is not admitted? So upset… american was towards the top of my list. I did what I could to show interest and even did the suplemental essay. And my test scores were not even high either…

@eps244 Yeah I’ve been searching for the acceptance letter but can’t find it. I suppose we can assume that we’ve been admitted? This is all very confusing haha.

To the admitted students who can’t access their MyAU pages yet… what state are you in? That might have something to do with it?

Found the financial aid under the tab that says finance or something similar and scrolled down to “my award letter”

No acceptance letter yet in the mail (or online), but my D was able to sign on and it said congratulations + she got a need-based grant!! Will merit awards only be noted in the mailed letters? We’re hoping for more aid for her to be able to attend. Two other great options for her offered very disappointing F.A. packages.

@Westcoaster2018 When you mean ‘my D was able to sign on’ do you mean she was able to create the AU account?

@datcatti
DS has a 35/1570 and I think he didn’t get in either.

@student12322 This is just getting depressing. #1 son had his heart set on AU. We did the visits, the local rep, webinars, everything. No letter, no portal. Seeing all the portal access has made for a rough night. I’ve told him he will be fine anywhere, but it’s tough.

For anyone who’s curious, I was accepted with GPA: 3.93W class rank: 46/514 ACT: 31 SAT: 1440. EC’s: senior class president, started a political club on campus, work a paid job, tutor other students. However, I showed little demonstrated interest in the school. I only watched one or two webinars

@croaswife That’s crazy good. I’m sure he will do great whereever he ends up. This whole process has been completely arbitrary this year.

I showed little demonstrated interest as well, so I think DI does help supplement your application but it doesn’t ensure admission.

This admission year has been incredibly hectic. Everyone here seems perfectly qualified for AU. We just don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, so don’t blame yourself. I wish the best of luck to everyone!

I got accepted from CA about an hour ago through mail. Still have friends waiting in CA. Everybody should hear soon. Best of luck!

@akop207 where in CA? im hoping to hear tomorrow

@datcatti Beverly Hills.
