Also, their admissions twitter recently posted "Now that all admission decisions are out, please share your reactions with us using the hashtags - #AU2022 #NewAUEagle
@pickledginger Did your son’s acceptance to CBRS come with his regular decision packet, as a separate letter/ email or did it come with the Honors email? My DS got the honors decline email yesterday at 4:00 pm, but he has not been notified if he was accepted into the AU scholars program. The email was completely impersonal as it said something about how they hoped he would still consider American when he was ED1 and had already paid his deposit! From reading this thread it is obvious that they need a better CRM to manage their admissions process. I think they are missing out on some great students.
For everyone who hasn’t received a decision, the admissions office just emailed me “I would advise you to keep checking your AU email for more information. If you have not received any communication via postal mail, or email, please contact us after April 1st.”
@sahmkc, your son’s honors decline message is the same as the one my son got. His CBRS acceptance came with his regular decision packet. The admissions letter said he was accepted to CBRS and there was info material in the admissions packet about CBRS.
Now 3 schools have admitted me for the spring- wow lol
Anyone know what aid they offer to spring admits?
@PastaKween as far as i know, zero
To those who have been admitted: Congrats!! Was wondering if anyone else who is in the facebook group chat has had difficulty- tried to access it today but was acting like page doesn’t exist anymore. Please let me know if anyone is facing a similar problem!
@doglover2345 The same thing happened to me
Accepted RD with $26,000 merit scholarship! Most likely will be attending
I think the group chat may have been shut down. My son said there was a heated debate and a small number of students got really out of hand. He hasn’t been able to log back in since the incident.
Also, thoughts on acceptance: Applied for PPL, Honors and got rejected from FDDS. I’m a CLEG Major from CA with strong ECs, 4.1, 31 on the ACT and decent
For those wondering, I was “accepted” fall mentorship/spring admissions, but nothing in my package had merit aid. I emailed AU directly, since I’m taking a gap year to see if there’s merit aid available that wasn’t in the package. They told me if nothing in my package had financial aid, then I didn’t receive any. This makes attending AU impossible. Really bummed out with the college process this year… I have great stats but was either waitlisted or rejected from every school except my safety. If this is yield protection, I wish colleges would just be honest about it.
Hello @yayhamlet, curious if you would be considered a high or full pay family based on your EFC. I’m trying to determine whether this is the demographic targeted by AU for their Mentorship program given that no financial aid was offered. We received a similar letter. Paying full price is out of the question for us.
Has anybody been rejected yet? Just curious. I’m currently on the waitlist. I know that there were a couple thousand who received acceptances, a couple thousand offered a place on the waitlist, and many rejections.
Is there anyone else who was invited to join the Community-Based Research Scholars Program (CBRS)? I know it’s a small knit, selective program, and I’d be cool to link up with my fellow scholar students!! You guys can message me directly if you want!! #AU2022
Finally got my acceptance in the mail TODAY! Felt like a month waiting. Also, I’m curious to know what the heated debate was. I was just approved to join the page not too long ago and I’m disappointed that it isn’t working right now.
@Daughter2018 yes, mentorship is offered almost exclusively to students au deems to be full pay
@Daughter2018 We have the same issue. FAFSA said full pay and we were offered the mentorship. It seems quite a few schools have a spring/full year deferral. We are taking a pass which is too bad since D liked the school and the city. We’re not prepared to pay Ivy prices for non Ivy, and have much better aid elsewhere. This whole process has been stressful and disappointing. A learning process for next time, I guess.
i got accepted through university college, what does that mean?
