I thought this might be of some interest to current and prospective students:

Tonight I also saw a protest on rape outside of my dorm room. I was kind of puzzled as usually protests start over actions that some other people agree with. I don’t think anyone agrees with rape.

Nevertheless there is a relatively large number of students at AU who engage in protests like these - just trying to give you a better feel for the university.

I heard that protest from my room. Apparently the Fraternities participated and thought it was a joke. Ruined the protest.

Can anyone verify the stats these protestors were stating: 51 out of 60 college men would rape a girl if they knew they would never get in trouble for it?

I have a hard time believing that statistic, but then again, I like to think the best of people.

Ryan and MD: Do you two know each other? Have you met in person?

Nope, not sure I know Ryan.

Just to note, the actual state was 57-60% of college men would rape a girl if they knew they would get away with it. Probably got the stat from Air Force academy or something. Thought it was odd they would post these stats around campus during a big prespective student visiting period.

Actually, MD if you are who I think you are I took World Politics with you first semester. Anyway, as for the statistic - what really angered me was the lack of a source. As if our school needs anymore radical statements being thrown around without much valid evidence to back up claims.

World Politics with Gerspacher? Right you sat in the corner.

Yes, I think you would have noticed me - always sat in the back with my laptop and definitely talked.
