Auburn engineering?

Would love to hear from current and past students of Auburn Engineering undergrad. As a current student, do you like AU engineering? Is it extremely difficult/stressful? As a graduate of Auburn engineering college, were you able to get a job?

My daughter is admitted to AU engineering and honors program but is having trouble deciding between AU and UGA (she did not apply for honors program at UGA).

Thanks!

Inquire about both schools’ Career Center. If you/your daughter cannot visit, ask that the schools send you some info regarding job placement for your daughter’s intended major in engineering. Both should be able to offer some type of info about placements.

Does UGA have engineering?

We have a good collection of respected Auburn engineering grads where I work but I do not know a single UGA engineer (GaTech OTOH are numerous).

UGA has offered Agriculture Engineering for a while, but this year is starting to offer traditional engineering degrees. But I would avoid it like the plague.

Michael Adams, president of UGA, had to justify the new programs to the University System of Georgia considering that the system already has a top 4 nationally ranked engineering program. His argument: there are employers in rural Georgia that want low-cost engineers. Georgia Tech engineers command a salary too high to fulfill this need. His plan: offer a less demanding engineering degree for less qualified applicants. When those students graduate, UGA will push these students into low-paying rural Georgia positions.

Who in their right mind would want to attend a school with that as its mission?

Auburn for sure.

Thanks so much for the info and input - this helps tons!
