Auburn Honors vs Wake Forest

General question about State School Honors vs Private School

… Daughter accepted into Auburn Honors with good scholarship … also Wake Forest with limited $ given.

She wants WF because it’s a “better” school … but how does one know?
Thoughts about the comparison? She’s studying economics and writing

Wake forest came out?

Not sure that WFU is better than Auburn Honors.

Hard to close the barn door once the horses are gone! The time for drawing these lines was before she even applied.

But, water under the bridge (piling on the clichés here!), so:

The first, biggest, question: can you afford to pay for 4 years of Wake Forest with no loans / no meaningful hit to your own financial circumstances / no unfairness to other children?

Better because of ranking bit how do you know it’s truly better or will get you a better result. You don’t.

Kids turn down schools like Wake for public flagships every day.

Which one fits better…fit = finances, major, feel/vibe etc.

Wake will have higher caliber kids on average but that doesn’t necessarily make it better.

In the end a kid should be where they can thrive…not the highest ranked.

Here’s one that chose auburn over another fine school. A tad higher ranked than Wake Happens more than u think. My daughter at Charleston has a friend who was accepted to Rice, Penn and Vandy. This is not the norm per se but it’s very common.

Find the ‘right’ school. You need to be there four years, day after day after day.

Good luck.
