Wake forest - no financial aid or merit offered. or William & Mary OOS - About $ 40,000.
From NJ - Or TCNJ Honors - About $ 15,000 after Presidential scholarship - NJ resident. What do you think?

Does this mean you’d pay full price at WFU; $40,000/year at W &M; and $15,000/year at TCNJ?

This needs to come down to your preference of the schools and how much that you can afford. I cannot tell if you are saying that Wake is full price and W&M is giving a small break. I know both areas, and they are different. W&M is a tourist’s paradise, and you will be in old town Virginia. Wake has a pretty campus, but the town is much uglier than Williamsburg. Hope this helps!

As a NJ resident, not knock TCNJ, but they just throw money at people. I mean if it is a serious financial issue then go to TCNJ, but W&M and Wake Forest are head and shoulders above TCNJ. W&M is not much cheaper, and Wake is the superior school. However, I’d suggest what other people have–visit and see what campus feels right, because there isn’t that much of a difference in Wake and William and Mary.

Sorry have’nt gotten back to you guys, however we’ve been at william & mary’s accepted students day and my daughter has made her mind up - W & M!. Yes, I will pay full boat for W & M and would have paid full boat for Wake. She loved both schools so it was not an easy choice. As I said previously, TCNJ offered Max merit of $ 6,500 per year bringing total cost next yr down to $ 15500. I wish we were VA residents. I hope that additional 25,000 per yr is worth it for W&M. Wake would have been over $ 50,000. By the way my son is a junior and will be going to college next yr.

I’m surprised that you feel Wake is a superior education to W & M.

Daughter also got into Boston College - $ 53,000/ Yr - No aid or merit offered.

My mom went to W&M, but she was in-state (her private high school cost more than her college education!). I congratulate your daughter, as she will enjoy her time in colonial Williamsburg! Good Luck!

They are both schools, but Wake Forest is undeniably a better school.

I am a VA resident and my daughter’s had to decide between Wake and UVA- size and cost being major factors. We love W&M also, and I will have to disagree with willmingtonwave that Wake is “undeniably” better than W&M. It depends on what you rank the schools on and what you are looking for in a school. Both are great schools with great rankings, each with different aspects. Hope your D loves W&M!

agree to disagree. we both have vested interests, you are a Virginia resident and I am a Wake Forest student.

Its pretty hard to say that Wake is “undeniably” better. They are both very good schools, and I just don’t want people to see that and think W&M is crap because its not, its probably on par with WAke in most people’s eyes

Just because I said WFU is better (which it is) doesn’t mean I think William and Mary is crap. I want to go to William and Mary for graduate school, so clearly I think its an elite academic institution.
