My son was given the advice to audition as early as possible to CCM because they fill up their spots quickly. This was from another MT Major hopeful, I feel like they may be confusing the rolling admissions process but thought I’d ask here to be certain. Should he try to audition 12/07? This is the first date.

I’m pretty sure CCM accepts very few from that first audition and it’s much more likely to get a deferral. If it’s one of his top choices I would suggest waiting until he’s had a few auditions under his belt. My son auditioned Jan 22nd and was accepted.

Thank you. It is definately at the top of his list. We had it tentatively on the schedule for 1/25, we will leave it there.

How does your son like it?

Though CCM is a great program he chose to attend U Mich instead.

My daughter is a current sophomore at ccm. She auditioned in LA on the last few days they were auditioning. To the best of my knowledge, she’s the only one who got in from LA. I do think there are slightly chances if you audition on campus before unifieds. But I don’t think it has to be the first audition, I agree get some under your belt.

My son is auditioning 12/7. Anyone else?

My son auditioned in December, and I will say that the waiting process was excruciating! we didn’t see any advantage to going early. The composition of his class came from all times, as well as locations.

Any decisions received from Dec 7 date.

None that I’ve heard yet NYSon. I’d guess something comes this week CCM is known for their timely decision communication.

Last year, CCM send “on hold” emails IMMEDIATELY following the audition to those who were under serious consideration…you can check online to see admission status if a decision has been made. It should show up on line before you receive the letter. My son auditioned last year on December 1 and his rejection showed online within one week. Letter came officially on December 19 (which I remember well because it was his birthday!!) Not a happy day, but a necessary one in this agonizing process!

We got a no today. mcpcwhite where did your son end up going if you dont mind me asking. This process is brutal

mcpcwhite’s son ended up at Point Park in Pittsburgh.

I haven’t heard of any other decisions at all from the 12/7 date.

Hi NewYorkSon — don’t worry – CCM was the first answer we received and it was a NO. Hard to get past that but then the acceptances started flowing in (11 YES letters came out of 15 in all). Yes it is a brutal process…I still get queasy sometimes following your posts this year! He is indeed at Point Park and LOVING it. Had a fantastic great semester and it was definitely the right fit for him. It is really true – this all works out exactly the way it’s supposed to. Hang in there.

Thanks for the info mcpcwhite. It is tough. It is hard having the first no but that is what life is all about the ups and downs.

Has anyone heard what CCM’s breakdown of acceptances will be this year? I’ve heard variations of 3 - 12 females and 5 - 15 males.
