Audition Dilema

So I filled out an application to Rider University over the weekend with interest in their musical theatre program. After rushing to get everything in on time I got an email this morning to pick an audition date with hopes of picking a Unifieds date. Little did I know that both of their auditions days for NY Unifieds are full… I talked to my mom and she said she won’t take me to an on campus audition, which puts me in a difficult situation. She says I should either beg for my money back (even though I told her the $50 was nonrefundable) or send in a video audition. Does anyone know if they actually look at video submissions or someone who got into the program with just a video submission? Anyway I just need some advice on the whole situation, I’ve tried calling them since last week but everyone seems to be home for the holidays.

@lenahcluv how far is it from where you live to Rider? Are there any public transportation options? Also, is there any chance someone else from your high school (or a local high school) is attending one of Rider’s on campus auditions, and could give you a ride? Call Rider tomorrow and explain your dilemma. I assume you are going to be at NY Unifieds, regardless? Maybe they could add you to the top of their notification list, if someone cancels their audition between now and then. Good luck!

Definitely contact Rider about being on a waitlist for Unified auditions. We did that with another school and someone cancelled at the last minute (granted there was a blizzard in NYC last year, so that worked in our favor but still) and we got in. On top of that, stop by the Rider room when you get to Unifieds and re-explain your situation. There may be some wiggle room, or they may have had a last minute cancellation that day. I highly doubt that they’ll give back your money, especially since they accept video auditions.

Yes, I will contact them and explain, but they haven’t been answering their phones so I’m assuming they’re out for the holiday. Thanks so much @owensfolks and @lovetoact, I didn’t even know a notification list even existed.

I would email them. Otherwise you probably won’t get them until after the new year.

If you can get to NYC it is easy to get to Rider from the city.
