My daughter has had one on site audition and two Unified auditions so far. We’ve been led to expect that she would be asked to do a song or monologue with some changes or something - so the auditors could see how she takes direction. So far, this hasn’t happened. And so far the auditors have not really asked much in the way of questions, although some of them have seemed to write an awful lot of notes. She says they were smiling and seemed friendly, but no one has really asked her anything. Has she been written off already???
My D has auditioned for 13 schools with 7 being at Unifieds. She has had every experience you can imagine and has been accepted into 5, is wait listed one one and still waiting to hear from the rest. She walked out of some saying they never even made eye contact and yet got an acceptance letter from that school. The one that wait listed her was so involved and stopped her after the dance and told her she did great, yet she is wait listed. All to say you never know! You just have to know you did the best you could do on that day and get ready for the next one. Good luck!
I will second that @jkl745. My son’s experiences have been all across the board! Many have just listened to his monologues and cuts and sent him on his way. Others have asked for some changes and worked with him. And just a few have really engaged to the point that he couldn’t help thinking “does this mean something?” But he won’t know the answer to that until he gets the letter one way or the other. This next month is going to be so tough, but I have obsessively read the posts of prior years’ parents and somehow everyone gets through it!
