Audition frenzy! MAHH

Hey all, (any music auditionees read further)

I have a quick question, (maybe long actually :) Anyways, I have an audition at McGill on Feb. 20th, and I know they require 5 songs. Great, I have that down pat. I just don't understand if they have the time to actually do 5 songs!? I mean, they have soo many applicants and auditionees, do they just select like 3 or make you do the first page of all songs? Confusement. Also, the theory test may come back to bite me in the but, because of the fact that I have had no theory training. Does it count for admissions or just placement? Thanks :DD

Hi Jeremy,

The voice panel may hear all five, but usually they will let you choose your first piece to start, and then make selections from your repertoire list. It is unlikely they will ask for all five, but be prepared nonetheless.
The theory tests are used for admission, but will not weigh against you in selection as they are used to get an idea of an applicant's musicianship ability.
