CMU is typically mid- to late-March by phone
Has anyone’s child kind of been offered an acceptance in the room???
My D was offered one in the room. The auditioner said if she could get in academically she would do everything in her power to get her in artistically.
I have heard of acceptances in the room, although, I don’t know anyone who has had that happen to them. My son was told while on a campus visit that they couldn’t imagine not accepting him. Not quite the same though.
Last year, my D was offered an acceptance in the room pending academic acceptance. Another heavily indicated the same in the room, followed by a definite artistic acceptance email a couple hours after the audition. (That one also offered a spot in their 2-year program, which obviously doesn’t depend on academics.) Both were at Unifieds.
At one of my auditions, I did the required two monologues, then they asked me for a third. Then they asked me for a 4th! They seemed very interested and I only hope that doing 4 monologues is a good sign.
@baygirl2016 My D was asked for a third AND a contrasting Shakespeare (SUNY Purchase I believe). She was very lucky to have done a comedic Shakespeare over the summer so she could do it. She said it wasn’t perfect but she was really glad she had it in the recesses of her mind!
At one of D’s audition 2 years ago they asked for a monologue from a show she had been in the year before… But NOT the character she had played!
@toowonderful , did she know it well?
She did- though. It certainly wasn’t as polished as her audition pieces. I think the idea was to see how you react under pressure
Yes, I bet that was the reason they asked for it. Good for her! =D> That’s the first time I’ve heard of that request. Be prepared mentally for anything, right?
Hi! I recently received my letter of acceptance into OU’s acting program in their drama school; however, they stated that I only had two weeks to notify them so that I could claim that spot since spaces are limited. I accepted because nothing is legally binding, but I’m still waiting to hear back from CMU, and I don’t audition for NYU until mid-April since they have a separate audition for external transfers.
When should I expect to hear back from CMU? And if I decided not to go to OU, I would just need to inform them, correct? If you’ve had a similar experience let me know
Anyone audition for USC? How did it go? What happened in the audition room?
@rz1997 I did a few weeks ago. They split you up into 3 groups. You’ll have an interview in the main room, your audition in a very small room with 3 auditors, and a prep period. They just had me do my two pieces and asked me a few questions about myself. They were VERY kind and it wasn’t stressful at all. They also had breakfast for those of us at the morning audition.
Does anyone know when the New School comes out with answers?
