Auditions for Music 199/299

Can anyone share her experience with auditions for Music 199/299? How demanding are these auditions? What sort of preparation is expected? What does it take to qualify for 199 or 299?

The context: my daughter, who will be starting at Wellesley in the fall, is an accomplished musician, but has had to limit her practice time this summer as she recovers from tendonitis.

Thanks for any insights or tips!

I play the clarinet and would consider myself good but not notably so (was not an All-State caliber clarinetist in high school, for example). I did 199 and the audition was not challenging; I simply played a piece for my clarinet teacher that I had been working on over the summer and it was far from perfect. There was no question for my teacher that I was good enough for 199. I cannot imagine that if your daughter is an accomplished musician that she would not qualify for 199, no matter how much she has had to cur her practicing.

Unfortunately I cannot speak to the difference in level of 199 and 299 (besides the fact that the lesson is longer). Hopefully someone else will come along.
