August 25 2018 SAT Results

The test is not curved based on current test takers… It’s equated based on the questions difficulty and how previous test takers have answered each question.

So it doesn’t matter if every test-taker this session got a hundred percent or if every person got 0% correct. The test is equated ahead of time based on the questions of each test and how previous test-takers have done on them.

@suzyQ7 Thank you for explaining that. The SAT said on Twitter that it was not curved, but I didn’t understand the concept of equating. That makes more sense now.

Just a FYI we are in CA and scores are out at my daughter’s high school.

@sagehen47 Did your son ever receive his scores?

@SRmom2019 . I forgot to report back here! Yes, Thursday afternoon he finally got them. Almost a whole week late. The folks at Twitter who reached out to me and offered to get his scores didn’t give any new info other than “tests are still being scored and will be posted when they’re done.” So basically the CB promised scores on 9/7, but took almost a week to get the scores back (to everyone from his test site). The good news is that he increased his English score into the range he was aiming for, so he’s happy.

On the test reuse topic, for those test centers closed in August for a hurricane, apparently today’s makeup SAT was primarily the test form widely used in December 2017 in the US.

Wow, that’s awful–tons of current seniors took that test. What the heck is the CB doing?

Well, just heard about the first score cancellation for the Aug. 25 administration:

Interesting, @jym626 . Any details on the test taker? Improvement? Location?

That’s all I currently know.

@sagehen47 I am so glad to hear it!
