@theGame: uh u mean the practice tests? I took more than 40 I think…>“< I virtually finish all the pratice tests I can find…
So hopefully I will get a good mark this round…>”<

SAT2, I 've got 800 for both of my subjects Math and Physics…but I need another one cuz I’m thinking about Georgetown…

ahahaa i did didnt even finish collegeboard practice test book and i did 2 sats. probs why i did so crap lol

I had like A MILLION practice books and didn’t finish ANY of them, the only ones I actually finished was the Maths IIC book… and I still didn’t do as well as I wanted to :(

Which books…? I wanna know, and so I’m sure, our Juniors. Conventional wisdom calls

College Board’s 8

Kaplan’s 4

Barrons’ 6 and

Princeton Review’s 14 (3 + 11)

an amount of 32. Hope you hadn’t mistaken that for a MILLION :D

I had all the books and then I had little booklets from short courses I had done, plus all the PSAT books and then random practice papers I had printed off the internet… and past years editions of books, like you can have the 2007-2008 then 2008-2009 and they have different tests… okay so maybe not a million, but there were TONS and I definetely did NOT finish even half of them… plus there were all the flash cards…
whats with the picking on beckie latley?

Yep…there are some past papers available as well… so…
College board 8
Online Courses 6
Barron’s 6
Princeton Review 14
Past papers 15+
…
That’s all I’ve done…plus Barron’s 2400 and CR workbook…>"<
I’ve also done The Official Guide and Online Courses all twice…

i serioulsly think you will be fine, how do you feel like you went?

WOW
you’ve done a lot, and I daresay, (tries to mimic the grandpa’s grave voice) we should come to expect great things from youuu…

as for beeish, I am jealous of u lol. can’t find a better way to annoy you atm :D

fine then… why jealous? how about dragons… he’s in the same, if not a slightly better position!

Hi guys, I havent been on this forum for weeks so I just read 7 new pages of posts lol
@Ruby_x3: Hi Ruby!!! I’m from Queensland as well! Are you Brissy?
(I am!) So glad we finally have some qld’ers here!!!

@theGame: Thanx! I really hope I have done well…I feel like I went not bad…but just too timid to estimate my score…>"<…Don’t want to expect anything before the actual score coming out. But…I’ll certainly tell you guys my result ^-^ I felt like I need to do enough practice to keep myself feel secure about the SAT… Maybe Im not the smart type but the hardworking one :P

Do you guys reccomend Barron’s 2400? Oh, and where did you purchase your SAT prep books from? Thanks!! :)

Oh, and if you send a paper app, will your teachers have to fill out rec’s for the number of colleges your applying to?
Wow, I must sound annoying! lol. Prolly should just focus on getting good marks on my SAT I reasoning before worrying about apps.

Hope you’re all having a great day!
<3*

Those heart things annoy me. They look like…ducks. lol.

I loved Barrons 2400 club! It was like my favorite SAT book and yes I know exactly how sad that is. I got most of my SAT books delivered to me when I was in the states off Amazon, Shipping to Aus sucks. You can get them ordered for you from Borders and I am thinking Dymocks too but they are RIDICULOUSLY expensive. Also look at random second hand book sites in Aus cause you will find random ones there its how I found my subject test books.
And YES if you are using any application other than the common application online your teachers WILL have have to fill out a rec for every single school you apply to BUT they can usually use the same letter… and the other thing is just a sheet of paper usually.

@Carpe-diem: if I can get a satisfactory score with my SAT this round, I will have all my preparation books for sale…if you are interested in purchasing them (obviously at a discount prices), Please contact me !

I agree with beeish, Barrons 2400 club has the clearest and most effective strategy for reading comprehension…CR part…

I would have offered my books but they are already all sold… sorry :(

Just catching up on the posts. :)

@ carpe-diem: Yay a year 11’er.
Well I know the subjects are pretty similar in Aus albeit slightly different. No literature here, my school just offers mainstream English. And then I do Maths B, Economics, Modern history, Chemistry and Biology. Lol def no AP’s or honours here, only the US have that. Not keen on bio either.

That brings me to the SAT….I actually have never even heard of it until I came on this forum and I still don‘t really know what it is. What’s the difference between SAT I and SAT II? Is this something year 12 kids in America do like the HSC to get into uni? But then again I’ve heard of other things they do like ACT or something like that…I know some parents get their kids to start studying for it in like middle school…Oh and since I’ve been in ‘prep schools admission’ part of the forum for so long, I’ve heard all these SSAT scores and tests that they need to do to get into high school, hella confusing. :p

Hi beeish, congrats on USC!
Just something I thought of…while I would LOVE to study on the east coast in the US I think living in Aus, California is probably way more suited to way of life down under. Nice weather, more laidback… probably feel more at home in CA. ![]()
Oh and I do worry about EC coz I’m not one of those ‘prep admission kids’ who have an endless amount of EC’s and have already done amazing things at the ages of 15-16. Of course they’re talking about getting into the most prestigious academic prep schools in the US but still. If I was like that I would cut down on what you’d call ‘laundry list of activities’ and just focus on several things but I ain’t gonna get into a university in the US with zero EC‘s.
I’m wary with what you call crappy grades.
Because most people on CC’s idea of crap is like all A’s and 1 B. hah!

@auskor_crimson: Heya!! Yes I’m Brissy. :D

@ruby. atm it seems like you should stop worrying about your ECs and focus on SAT 1 and SAT 2. If your sat scores arent good enough or you don’t hand this at all, you’ll be rejected before they even look at your ECs.

to explain SAT. Its standardized admissions test. a test required in most universities in america for admissions into their schools. SAT 1 consists of three sections Maths, Critical Reading and Writing (with an essay). 10 sections making it a 3+ hrs exam. SAT 2 is a test where you choose the subjects you want. they have various SAT 2 tests such as Maths level 1 and level 2, various languages like French, Italian, Science subjects like Chemistry, literature and few histories.

few sites that might help you is collegeboard.com, princetonreview.com, essayforum.com, students review.com - these are the four sites i used to register for SAT (collegeboard), get some practice tests and get help with essays (essayforum) and find universities i wanted to attend (students and princetonreview).

you should start studyin for SATs durin year 11, take the exams during year 11 if you can and do the SAT IIs in year 12.

oh and east coast is where i’m going so if you need more info on that area ask away.

woo 100th post! lol

@Ruby_x3: YAY!!! I’m so glad xD
Whereabouts in Brisbane do you live in?
I live in the westside. Ooh I’m doing the same subjects as you except for the bio and mod history. I do accounting and maths C instead (and Im Yr 12 this year) :D

@st.dragons: east coast? where are you heading to? :D

considering he answered for me I will answer for him… he’s going to Clark University near Boston come this fall… although not as early as me… because USC starts freaking early… mid august seriously? but thats okay the more USC I get the happier I am :)
