Austin, TX for 20 somethings

I’m looking for suggestions for hotels, restaurants and music venues in Austin. My son and his fiance are taking a short trip there in June. I’ve never been so I’m no help.

I’ve heard about the Driskill hotel. Would it appeal to 28 year olds or is it for the old, stuffy crowd? Are the music venues on 6th Street? Where is the best BBQ? Is it possible to book a centrally located hotel and walk to most places? Where is the art district?

I know there are some Texans here. Thanks for your help.

I would have them check out some of the boutique hotels which are amazing. Lots of music in and around 6th street and just above it in the Red River District. Art District is right off the Capitol Building to the NW. Soooo many great BBQ places in Austin, but they may want to do the Franklin’s thing. I’d say it’s still in the top 3.

Great location. Most unique BBQ joints are out of town in Lockhart and https://www.louiemuellerbarbecue.com/
Blacks in town is very good without the Franklin wait. Continental Club is still around and the best music club. Austin was better in the early 80s before the boom but still fun.

I think the Continental Club in Austin is closed.

Temporary due to COVID. It will return ASAP. https://continentalclub.com/closed
