australian at yale?

do you think being australian would improve the chances of acceptance to yale because of the diversity angle or reduce them?

are their any yale students who know of australians at yale and their experiences?

we have 11 Aussies. but i don't know any of them.

Not particularly. International admit rates are even lower than those for nationals.

also ive been told australian's need to take the sat, does this mean our own exams like TEE will be disregarded?

I wouldn't say disregarded - they'll probably consider it just like they consider everything else, but the SAT will be weighted more.

I'm Australian! Well only by birth since I moved to the US when I was 9 months old. Whoot!

hehe I know one Australian who got into Yale 2 years ago.
His ENTER was 99.95 and his SAT was 1580 I think.

I think if you are Australian you will have a better chance than say, a Korean citizen, but it'd be a long shot. By the way, are you Asian Australian?

no im a caucasion australian. would the fact that i go to a prestigous private school count for anytihng? would they recognise australian schools?

also, the person who got into yale from australia, do you know if he had any "hook" or EC's that were spectacular, that got him in. is 1580 just a really good sat score? i thought it was out of 2400.

y17k- did that aussie you know go to a school in Adelaide? I think I might know him as well from a long long time ago ...

If it isn't- well I knew a guy who was the most amazing chem dude ever. Ambitious and talented. I think he also got a medal at the Chem Olympiads and he also got a rediculously high TER score and SAT etc. He's at Yale now...
