Has anybody received notification yet? Also I noticed on my status page, they added for the first time under recommendation “find your way, Assess your interests and abilities”
I don’t know if this means anything.

mramadan, I haven’t yet. Same thing for me. They added a Wayfinder thing.

I hope something happens next week.

Im in the same position as you guys. Im currently #1 in my class and got my entire application in at the end of August. Im dying to hear from the university. Im nervous that something will go wrong and I won’t get accepted. Im ranked #1, but my SAT/ACT scores were pretty weak.

Jake18, I am also well in the range for auto-admission, but I’m scared that something could go wrong.

I just made the housing application payment ($50) today.

Is there a possibility that the school declines any top 8% students? I’m just worried that something odd might happen regardless of the fact that I am an auto admit.

Those who are waiting to hear - have you ensured your application is complete and they have received your transcript with a rank etc?

Yes, they have indicated that my application is complete and that they have received the necessary documents.

actually there is no guarantee that everyone in the top8% will be admitted. If they reach the 75% threshold at top 7% then everyone else will be thrown into holistic review. My understanding is there could be a scotus decision in January. I’m thinking they are going to wait until January when all apps are in and then start admitting top 1%, 2% and so on until they reach 75%. However if the scotus finds against UT in Jan. then they revert to top 10%.

What’s interesting is, this year there were no essays on the CNS honors application.

Maybe that has to do with the Supreme Court case.

I thought the supreme court decision would have no impact on this years class? This is based on previous comments in this thread about the actual language.

If they issue a ruling that overturns AA in about three to five months, it will impact admissions.

If they issue such a ruling later than that, then it won’t impact us.

I also assume that they have done a complete, worst case calculation to come up with the 8% number, taking into consideration the total students in the 2013 . At least that’s what it seems like below. It almost sounds like even at 8% there will be a more openings.

November 4, 2011

TO THE ADMINISTRATOR ADDRESSED:
Subject: The University of Texas at Austin Automatic Admission Policy

Senate Bill 175, passed by the 81st Texas Legislature, allows The University of Texas at Austin to limit automatic admission to 75 percent of the university’s enrollment capacity designated for first-time resident undergraduate students beginning with admissions for the 2011-12 academic year.

The University has determined that it will automatically admit all eligible 2013 summer/fall freshman applicants who rank within the top 8 percent of their high school graduating classes, with remaining spaces to be filled through holistic review. A letter from University President William Powers, Jr. is attached to this correspondence.

Please share this information with all high school junior-level students and their parents.

If you have questions regarding this policy, please contact Dr. Kedra Ishop, Vice Provost and Director of Admissions at The University of Texas at Austin at (512) 475-7399.
Sincerely,

On my Mystatus page, it tells me they have all the documents to make a decision. So I know they have everything.

Does UT send out early decisions?

They used to, but this year they haven’t.

Thats weird. I mean, a lot of my friends that have applied to big university’s (A&M, Tech) Have already got there acceptance letters.

I’ve been admitted! Everyone go check your’s!

Just checked mine…Admitted!

Those who have been admitted… Is it an “Intent to admit” Or are y’all aware of your major? If so, what major? Also, when did y’all submit apps?

I got admitted too! I BELIEVE (though I may be wrong) it is just auto-admits. It says

"Good news, (my name)! You qualify for automatic admission to the University of Texas at Austin.

We’re not sure about your major yet. Find out more about automatic admission."

I have been accepted to UT and my major of choice.
