I'm a high school senior who is considering attending Pitt next year. I have some questions about the availability of student tickets to the more popular spectator sports. Namely, how hard is it to get tickets for football and basketball games? The student section at the basketball games only holds 1200 students, so it seems like it would be hard to get tickets at a university with 17000ish undergraduates. I also want to know how hard is it to get season tickets for the football team. Thanks in advance for any responses.

Football is easy. $25 buys you a season ticket. Everyone gets into every home game.
Men’s Basketball is an online lottery system to get a ticket. It costs $5 to go to a game and as I understand it you get loyalty points for going to less popular events and that helps increase your chances. My DS tried to go to about 7 games this year and got tickets for about 5. He did get a ticket for Duke but not for Syracuse, probably the most difficult tickets this year.

IF you buy your football season tickets ahead of time! In the past few years the season tickets have sold out, and certain games are almost impossible to get into (ex. Pitt v. Notre Dame this year). You can have a friend buy you a buddy pass through their season ticket for $5 a game or buy an individual student ticket for $10 a game IF the tickets are available. And those only sell the week of the game starting Monday morning.
