Available audition dates for 2014 admission

Anyone scheduled their UMich audition yet?

My D got her invitation to audition via email on Friday for U Mich. it just gave her a date but not a specific time. She’s planning on auditioning at NY Unifieds but we may have to do some rescheduling

Just going over a couple of things and my D has auditions at both Boston U and Mason Gross (Rutgers) this month and I noticed I don’t have confirmed times from either school. Boston says 9 am to 1 and Mason Gross just says the whole day. Both emails say they will email later with a time slot.
Has anyone gotten an exact time yet for BU or Mason Gross?

The way things worked at BU last year, everyone shows up at “start time,” there’s a group info session that lasts awhile, then everyone goes upstairs to a waiting area and they call the kids back separately for auditions. I actually don’t remember whether there was a specific assigned time…but each kid was with an auditor for 10-15 minutes on average. There were three auditors at the mid-January date. My son had a group of friends there, so we waited around till almost everyone was done, but his audition was over halfway through the whole time period. Best to set aside the whole block of time, I think. By the way, it was definitely one of the most fun auditions for my son, and by a miraculous coincidence, the weather was unusually warm (in the 50s) so all the walking we did back-and-forth to trains and the T was easy!

Times3’s son and mine had similar experiences at BU, except it was 8 degrees when we went! expect to stay the whole morning, though. BUT, they did offer to accommodate folks who had other scheduling Constraints (flight, train, etc.) at Mason Gross, he was given a time, but there was no set info session or anything; just sat around for a couple hours waiting for the call.

Just received a phone call from one of my D’s schools saying if we didn’t confirm our audition appointment by 5 pm today she would be dropped. We confirmed weeks ago through email and phone message. Now I am concerned for all the other schools. Do I need to call each one and make sure we are still scheduled? I have written confirmation from each school including this one?

Be sure to print out the confirmation and bring it along with you in case something like this crops up when you’re on the road.

biouu’s experience prompted me to do just that, glassharmonica!! I’m all for overpreparedness.

My worry is that I have all the confirmations…but this phone call said if we didn’t confirm via email or phone call they would remove her from the schedule and she would lose her place. Could we possibly show up with confirmation in hand to Unifieds, but the school tell us she has been removed? Do I need to call each school and double check? This seems silly…

Bisouu, it sounds like that one particular school is a bit…disorganized? Your written confirmations should be enough (and of course you should bring the letters or printouts with you). However…if you’re afraid that you’ll worry yourself (or your daughter) to death over it, why not call and be sure? It’s okay to protect your sanity! :)

Thanks Times3 I thought I had crossed every T and dotted every i …one thing about this process is that it is not predictable in any sense of the word

Bissou, my musician daughter has run into this a few times with schools and festivals. She always confirms with them and the response is “we sent that email to everyone so that those who did not confirm yet will respond.”

Bisouu this post sent me running to my home phone to check voice mail. We hardly answer the home phone anymore. Fortunately no message for us! Then I checked email confirmations and realized I don’t have an email confirmation for Purchase. Anyone else in that boat?

When I printed out the confirmations, I realized that I hadn’t seen any from two schools. I’m not going to worry about it. I have the Chicago snow taking up that worry space!

Just printed all confirmations!
