I have taken the ACT once and went in blind, got a 30. I've studied this summer and will take it again on Saturday. I'm pretty sure it will go up, but I was wondering of there's even a shot of admission with a 30? I will be applying to CALS..what are the average scores of this specific college? If you got into it, what did you score on the ACT? Thanks a bunch in advance!

Definitely have a shot…how’s your GPA?

Unfortunately, Cornell doesn’t separate the average scores for the different colleges. If you could raise it a couple points you would definitely be competitive. My friend who is in CALS took the ACT twice, scoring a 32 both times and superscoring to a 33. Obviously that’s just one person but you asked for examples so there’s one!

@Grenada10 3.9 UW…don’t know the 5.0 scale but weighted is 97. This is without this year and the weight from those ap/adv courses…

@Ranza123 thanks for the info!! Good to know they superscore too. Do you know if they look at the individual parts of it?

Cornell used to publish SAT & ACT scores at the college level, but I have not found that info since the Fall of 2011. At that time, the entering class middle 50th % ACT was 28-32 for the Ag school. Your application is four years later, and scores have been creeping up over time, at least according to the university-wide published stats. For example, for the class that entered this fall, the middle 50th % ACT was 30-34. For the class that entered three years ago, the middle 50th ACT was 29-33, so a slight tick up. I do not have updated college-specific ACT scores. Good luck!

I unfortunately don’t know whether they look at the individual parts…I assume that they do if they superscore, though.

@CT1417 and @Ranza123 thank you!! Very helpful

This link has the most up-to-date SAT scores with the range being 1240-1430, so I assume the ACT score range is still something like 28-32.

thanks so much!! @KAMEO550

@purpleoan, I would just shoot to get within that range somewhere. I have a feeling that the other parts of your application will carry more weight. I am in CALS and I know many who have scored high 20’s that are here today , as well as a few who scored near perfect but were waitlisted because the supplemental portion of their application was lacking.

thank you!! @concerto95
