Average College Confidential User

This has always wondered me: As I look around the forums, I see that most people seem to have near stellar stats and ecs. Is this the average CC user?

The average CC user is a complete genuis!
lol

We need a site for us 'less then average' people.

Remember you are only seeing the people who post. Considering the environment, I can imagine that there are plenty of B+ college-bound kids not quite brave enough to jump into this pool. There is so much great information here on CC that I'm sure there is a large lurking population gathering tips and info but not excited to post.

YoMama is refering to people like me. Look at the username :)

I've been primarily a lurker during my time here. My stats are fairly decent, but definately not Ivy quality like most of the people I've seen, got a 2000 SAT(700 verbal, 690 math, 610 writing), 3.5 uw, 4.3 weighted, top 2% of class, IB diploma program. For ECs I have a few years worth of football, cross country, and track, academic project leadership positions, tutoring, and a few other small things, so I guess not anything stellar. I'll most likely be attending my state u's honors college (either ASU or U of A, leaning towards ASU) or possibly USC and majoring in business management.

I found this forum when I was searching for college info, I have mixed emotions about that considering I've been changing my mind constantly now about where I want to go with all the info available here.

i have always wondered the same thing, that and how people found this site.

Well, how did you find this site? I found it while looking for Air Force issue combat boots...lol...it's true!

i dunno i was researching cornell or something.

I found it when looking for the national merit cut-offs.

Just read the chances threads. There are a lot of people here who have a very good shot at the Ivy Legue.

Some very smart people don't post on this board. This board is probably a good indicator of college bound kids.

I found it while looking at information about a summer program; which I immediately discovered I had no chance for...I'm definitely not in the top percentage of users here. I lurked for several months before I started posting.

No mystery. People on this board are doing more than average research into colleges. They tend to be above average in motivation which ususally produces above average results. If you look closely, not everyone has stellar stats. I think there's a huge percentage who come here believing they are going ivy and see the real competition for the first time. So many here have been at the top at small schools in small towns. But I think most here end up at better colleges than they in general would have because of the knowledge shared here.

yeah... or they end up in no college because of lack of sleep and studying caused by spending too much time here... one of the two.

I heard about it through word of mouth. Although I am only speaking for myself, I think a lot of people who post/come here are really bright kids that sacrifice sleep for more liberal time management policies.

I found this site from another college info site, lurked for maybe a day, and then started posting haha. I'm above-average stats-wise when compared to most people, but probably about average for CC. And, no, I never sleep. :)

I found this site looking for National Merit cut-offs.

And you're right, I did see the competition. I was never really looking up to the Ivy league schools but when I got here, I realized how weak my stats were compared to some of these kids. I'm so glad I'm not going to be competing with them for a place in HYPSM. :)
