Out of curiosity, what is the average gpa for lsa students, especially freshmen if the data is available? And what's the average gpa of students in the honors college?

I read a long time ago, being in 05' when I applied, that the average GPA amongst all LSA undergrads is about a 2.98

...I may be wrong

lol, more like 3.98 :p

28% of the class in 2006 had a 4.0 UMich GPA. I think 3.9's did reach below the 50th percentile...so I guess it would be fair to guess the mean (not median) would be around a 3.87 or so.

Are you talking about high school GPA, or what people's GPA is for Michigan classes?

A large majority of people coming in now are in the 3.9-4.0 range for high school GPA.

Because of how many credits I have, the system thinks I'm a senior, and apparently my GPA (little over 3.6) is enough to put me in the top 15% of upperclassmen.

And I had the same GPA in high school. GPA is a pretty crappy indicator of anything.

I mean gpa of students in michigan, not admitted students. I'm a freshman right now, so that's why I'm asking.

"And I had the same GPA in high school. GPA is a pretty crappy indicator of anything."

Completely agree. My GPA actually went up coming to Michigan after going to a mediocre HS. Kind of funny.

The "average" GPA in LSA is roughly 3.2. Maintaing a 3.0+ GPA is not too difficult. However, if one wants to maintain a 3.6+ GPA, expect long hours in the library.

I don't think it's right to compare students in LSA. I think it would make more sense to look at the averages in each of your classes and go from there.
