I was wondering what the chances were for a transfer student w/an average GPA, but excellent essay, shining recs, and high test scores? I'm a sophmore transfer looking into BU, Northwestern, and Brown, among others, but any out of those three would be a dream of mine. I realize they'd all be under the category of long shots, but do you think I stand a chance? My gpa has been between 3.2-3.45. (only one C on my transcript) thanks.

I'm also curious. Would a 3.5 at a top public (applying for jr-sr years) make one competitive @ Cornell, brown, penn, Northwestern, WUSTL, Emory... sorry to list so many, but if you know ANY, speak up

bump....any input please?

what schools are you guys coming from?

Currently I'm at a community college in the Chicago area...

I'd work very hard to try and bring that GPA up. If you can bring up your GPA and convince the application reviewers you need to go to that school; you will be probably be admitted.
