Transfer Chances

Stats:
HS: 3.2 GPA (unweighted) 3.3 (weighted) 31 ACT, pretty good extra-currics

College: 4.0 GPA, through a year and a half, very good extra-currics

Could I transfer into UPenn (the college-not wharton), Columbia, UChicago, Dartmouth, Northwestern, Georgetown? (maybe Cornell, Brown) (Are MIT and Duke too hard? I would love MIT)

My selected major in economics. What's realistic? Where would you guys suggest I apply? Are these good? Thanks so much, it means A LOT to me.

Where are you coming from? Your essays and recommendations will need to be stellar. Great GPA.

Michigan State University. I'm pretty sure I'll have good teacher recs and essays, but I don't wanna say anything about those for sure, and just yet.

I would add Northwestern, Rice, and Emory. These tend to be transfer friendly (as is georgetown).

I did add Northwestern, and I have been considering Emory for a while, I almost put that on. Chances? Is this a good list? I'd like to know what's realistic, where I should attempt to transfer to.

I'm from Chicago, and don't particularly like Northwestern too much. I also realize they have a great economics program and that the school is highly received in the business world.

But what about a Cornell or Brown?

Cornell you have a shot, my guess is that Brown will be very tough. They've been very selective the last couple of years for transfers.

Does your high school GPA come into picture in transfer admissions?

Yeah it matters, particularly for those transferring after first year. The SAT matters more, however. If you have a weak high school record I would recommend great college GPA and retaking the SAT/ ACT.

SAT/ACT matters MORE than HS GPA in a transfer?

SampsonClark, I'm kinda in a similar situation as you, and some of the schools on our prospective school lists are the same.

Would you guys say UPenn, Columbia, University of Chicago, and Dartmouth are possible? I'm applying to Penn's CAS too (philosophy major).

I'm eager for information.
