Is there information about this on the internet? I can't find it and I've been looking for a considerably long time now. Specifically, for Bioengineering and Chemical and Petroleum Engineering.

My son is a sophmore engineering student, and when we went to his Pitt start in June,2010, a professor told us that the average freshman engineering student ends their freshman year with a 2.9 gpa. That is exactly how my son ended his freshman year.

There isn’t, but it’s important to know that most engineers should graduate with a 3.0 or higher. This is because many (not all, but many) employers and co-ops/internships won’t hire with a GPA below that (sometimes a 2.75 will do). I’d say a good majority of engineers make the 3.0 mark.

Especially in Bio and Chem, the students tend to aim for higher GPAs because so many are pre-med.

I will echo what awesome just said, while we were told that the average for fresman year was a 2.9, to be considered by most employers they want you to graduate with at least a 3.0.
