Average Undergrad GPA for Engineering Student

What is the average undergrad GPA (freshman, sophomore) at UW for a student that is taking classes in preparation for an Engineering degree? (ex chem142 series, math124 series, etc.) Generally what is the GPA range that most people get admitted into one of the engineering departments? Your estimates are welcome too.

Thanks.

So generally I should be aiming for a core GPA of 3.0 or higher?

for sure. What type of engineering? I am in Chem E right now, and the average GPA is quite high. They don’t list it exactly to my knowledge, but my gut says it’s around a 3.6-3.7.

I know bioengineering is a 3.4-3.9 average. To get into engineering I suggest you strive to be above average if possible. Staying average might work, but never count on it.

Thanks. So the average undergrad GPA is around 3.7ish? So basically a person with a 3.0 has little chance of getting in?

GPA isn’t everything, but I would try to kick it above a 3.3.
