yea i thot that would happen. I was just curious as why UVA doesnt hv a form that u give ur counselor to include ur updated transcript. I mean VT does it. I believe Uchicago is also self-report tho, so I guess it just depends on the school.

Yea, all the other schools where I am applying, the g.c. completes the mid-year report.

I think that UVA and Chicago can trust that you'll competently do it, while VT is probably just hoping you'll graduate. ;)

If you have students there who can't even follow the law, well then, they can't be trusted to complete the form, can they?

:) (10 characters)

how much does UVA just despise tech ppl

Not that much, really. VT isn't seen much differently than other lower publics in the state like GMU, JMU, VCU, CNU, etc.

VT, Duke, UNC and Florida St seem to be UVAs rivals, is that true

I don't think that everyone who gets accepted to UVA has a 4.0 gpa. URMs accepted to UVA have been reported to have lower stats (gpa included) compared to the rest of the applicant pool (possibly with the exception of hispanics, given that according to a Washington Post article I've read, hispanics receive little if no preference in Admissions at UVA).

Everyone who gets into UVA does not have a 4.0. No school in the country will have an unweighted average for admitted students of 4.0. I would say realistically it's probably about 3.75-3.85, lower if you want to include the athletes. If you want to get something from this "average gpa = 4.0" stat, take it to mean that most admitted students get mostly A's.

... and you better not lie on your midyear report, very, very serious.

PS I dont' think Marcus Vick was much of a student... hear he threatened teenagers with a gun the other night? Good kid, guess he can live off his older brother's money. (or did I read too much into that comment (#24) worldshopper? lol)

PPS the JMU / just missed uva thing sounds good, but in reality I think the gap there is bigger than "Just". I went to a moc honors class (invitation only) on the EU when I was there spring senior year, and we were going over countries and capitals, and 90% of the "class" laughed at me when I responded that the capital of Luxembourg was Luxembourg City. That's my JMU story.

soccerguy: You read post #24 correctly.
