so i was looking through princeton reviews 366 colleges, and it says that the average gpa admitted to princeton is a 3.85. Stanford section says 4.3, so the onylway i see this being possible is if the unweighted and recalculated gpa is reported for princeton. Even so, i would see it as being at least a 3.95 or soemthign. I always though taht it was impossible for me to get into Princeton becuase i have a 3.85 UW gpa even though everything else is up to par. My school doesnt rank and i guess im like JUST ten percent...like 17th out of 200 to make an estimate...idk i just thought it was interesting to see a 3.85 being the average admitted gpa...does this mean i have hope?

Yep you have hope.

Yeah but keep in mind that Princeton only counts grades 10-12. There have been people who literally got an F or two in their freshman year and still got accepted. So that number could be very skewed, as people's "real GPA's" could be much lower than their "Princeton GPA's" (10-12).

do they calculate unweighted or weighted GPA for Princeton?

The GPA reported for admitted students is the unweighted GPA.

“The GPA reported for admitted students is the unweighted GPA.”

True

False. Sounds nice in theory, but not including frosh grades in your gpa calc doesn’t mean they don’t look at freshman year grades. Try getting in with a frosh year F (without a damn good explanation) if you want…

what is frosh year anyway?

Frosh = freshman

^I hope what has been said in this post IS mostly true. I had ~3.6 my freshman year (including everything like a B in PE), but heading toward a stellar 10-12. presumably!

What? Princeton doesn’t include freshman GPA?!!

GPA is practically irrelevant anyway. What is relevant (somewhat) is relative GPA, and even then it’s importance depends heavily on the difficulty of the high school. Well, not really difficulty, more like prestige…

Interesting (and encouraging!) numbers. What are the averages for other HYPSMC?
