Average SAT score

hmm.. in this forum...it seems like a SAT score of 2000 is just an average SAT score, where below that is considered to be low...and it seems that almost everyone here is getting like 2100 ++ on their SAT... Just wondering... do ppl outside this forum really think that a SAT score of 2000 is not that great.. or is it bcuz ppl in this forum are exceptionally smart?

Yeah, most people on this forum are exceptionally smart. Don't be discouraged though. My SATs are just below 2000 and I've been accepted into two top 15 schools already. You are not a number. Good luck!!!

I wouldn't say that the people on CC on exceptionally smart, but I would say that they have exceptionally high SAT scores. CC is primarily about getting in the top colleges. This is unfortunate in a way. It would be better to have a forum focused more on getting into college rather than getting into Harvard. Of course, not everyone here is really aiming for HYP either. It is just interesting to talk about what it takes to get into Harvard.

There are about 3400 four-year colleges in the US. Admissions is totally insane at the top 12 or 15 colleges. It drops off every quickly once you get out of that range. It is just that everyone in the entire country is focused on a few brand-name schools. For most colleges, it can be pretty clear what you need to get in.

At the most elite colleges though, the biggest factor is whether you have a hook or not in the form of being a URM, legacy, athlete, developmental applicant, or VIP. There is a separate SAT selection criteria for each.

I have to agree with the post above, coming onto CC can be a bit overwelming! This site especially at first was geared towards ivy league bound students, its been wonderful the way it seems to have branched out to include just regular folk like myself! My cousin first told me about it, but he is at Harvard, so I can understand why he loved the site. I am out of the league of most here but I love the sense of "camraderie" that we are all forced to feel due to the fact that despite whether you are applying to community colleges or ivies, we are all going through this TOGETHER! its overall with a few exceptions a great group of kids and I wish you amazing luck and success in the futurre!

which two top schools have u been admitted to?
wat is ur SAT score??

Yea, don't ever be discouraged by numbers, I just got that 2000 on my SAT, and I managed to get into all of my colleges and eight of them are exceptional :)

2000 is a great score.... It's true that on CC that might be considered low, but just look at your percentiles ( all 85ish and up) and you can see that it's fine. A lot of people outside CC would be very pleased with a 2000, so don't be discouraged by anything someone on CC tells you.

I posted this somewhere before... my 1970 was the second highest score in my school. People thought I was a genius lol. Don't worry if you can't score 2390... that's okay.

hey dufus, I thought that you've decided not to post anymore on CC because of that "CC is wrong" thing you were talking about yesterday. Anyway, I'm just wondering, no offence.
