not that i'm obsessed with grades/gpa or anything, but I'm just curious what average first year GPAs are like in USC Marshall. anyone know? it's just so I know roughly what to expect, especially coming from high school!

thanks!

I don't really know what to expect my next years classes
ECON 203 I guess most take this (Marshall)
LING-115g Sounds really interesting! I'm not the best in foreign languages, though...
BUAD 304 Didn't want to start w/ Calculus because I'm not much of a math person and wanted to start strong
WRIT 140 Required; fortunately, I'm okay with writing
BUAD 101 GLP; don't know what to expect

BUAD 101 GLP is the freshman leadership seminar, so it's only 2 units.

and, i switched LING-115g to SOCI-142gm because it meets the diversity requirement, and it looks like they periodically open up more spots in the class (so don't worry if you can't get in some of the classes during registration!)

I started off in the School of Architecture where it is hands down impossible to get a 4.0.

I have taken the following though:
ECON 203-take it with Al Sabea, if you go to class and do the readings you can definitely get an A...the problem is that most people don't go to class nor do they do the readings
LING 115g-an A is definitely possible. Doing JEP helps if you are allowed to do this in place of the journal entries. It counts for a substantial portion of the grade.
WRIT 140-for most people this is torture. It largely depends on who you get. The class is about unlearning the generic 5 paragraph essay you might have learned in high school and acquiring "academic discourse" to constuct arguments. If you like writing, you might have a chance, but the instructors are usually very stingy with grades on individual essays.
