Avg. GPA

I'm wondering what the Avg. GPA is for FSU. I've been looking into the University with hopes of applying for next year and I keep finding conflicting reports. Does anyone know the avg. "Recalculated' GPA, and the avg. U/W? Thank you.

3.6-4.1 25-29 act

The latest [FSU Common Data Set at C12](http://www.ir.fsu.edu/Common_Data_Set/2011-12/C.html) shows an average GPA of 3.79.

This same report shows that 53.5% of FSU freshman had a GPA of 3.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

3.79!!!
Holy crap. That seems a lot higher than when i was applying a few years back!

What does 4.0 scale exactly mean? I have a Florida state residency but I’m living in Canada for the rest of this year because of my dads work.

Read through this reference: [Academic grading in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Academic grading in the United States - Wikipedia)

Awesome! That’s what I thought apparently my GPA is a 3.65 without weights!

Be sure to count your GPA the way FSU counts it:

“Academic classes”

can you tell me if the following qualify for that I’m a bit iffy

Sociology
Issues in Humanity
Anthropology
Archeology
Western Civilization
Personal Social & Family relationships

Some may qualify. Use the below excerpt as a reference. Academic rigor is important.

From my son’s discussions with them concerning his senior year schedule, I believe sociology and western civilization are academic courses ( social science and history categories). They do not accept anthropology as a social science. I don’t know about archeology, but the others I don’t believe will qualify as academic courses.

Of course the best way to find out is to call!

I asked my teacher why they forced us to take these classes if they don’t even count as as academic courses and I was told they count them as history or social studies credits which means I will have 8 lol. She did tell me she wasn’t 100% sure and I should ask my counselor next time we speak.

The admission office at FSU is very helpful. Why don’t you email them and ask if any of your listed courses will be used to recalculate your GPA?
