Awards and Activities of UC's apps?

So in the mids’t of completing my UC application, I come across the Awards section. Now, my school doesn’t give out awards until the end of Senior year when all the departments get together and choose people to give awards to. Obviously I can’t really put anything in this section while it is still open. But to what extent, if any will this hinder or hurt my application? I was only able to legitimately put one award which is the Athlete/Scholar award given at the end of a season to students who maintained a B average in the duration of the sport. There are other things outside of school that recognize my academic success and say things like “nominee” or stuff like that.

Unless they are things like olympic medals, they really won’t hold much sway with the UCs. GPA is king at UCs, ECs, awards, leadership are background considerations.

Be sure to apply broadly. For most of the UCs, you’ll need a 4+ gpa and 1300+ SAT to be a serious candidate.

What are your current stats?

@lowkeyveryhighkey Awards don’t have to be just academic. Did you get the Girl Scout Bronze/Silver/Gold award? Have you received a Presidential Service Award? You can also list memberships in Honor Societies in that section.
