<p>On applications are any of you putting down those mundane recognitions that everybody seems to get, im not even sure if they are worth anything.
Ex. National society for high school scholars
Who's who among american high school students?
etc. </p>
<p>Many students ask about that, and the general consensus is that you shouldn't. Those things are often scams to get you to buy an expensive book or a "trip" to some political event. They don't speak to anything about you, so they're largely useless on an application. (And more or less everyone gets them. :p)</p>
<p>arnoc is right. I wouldn't recommend doing that either. You shouldn't have to pay to receive an honor like NSHSS and Who's Who. These are just profit organizations that are out to steal your money, and they DO NOT increase your chances of getting accepted to top schools. You are better off not listing them.</p>
