Awards for community service?

I’m a high school junior, and so far I have over 300 hours of community service. Are there any good awards, recognitions, etc. that I could get. Or do you just get these awards through your school?

The President's Volunteer Service Awards (<a href="http://www.presidentialserviceawards.gov/%5B/url%5D">http://www.presidentialserviceawards.gov/</a>) may be what you're thinking of. They are awarded through a "certifying organization" which nominates recipients and distributes any awards earned. The website defines what sorts of groups can be certifying organizations and how to apply. (Information specifically for teens is here: <a href="http://www.presidentialserviceawards.gov/tg/teens/index.cfm%5B/url%5D">http://www.presidentialserviceawards.gov/tg/teens/index.cfm</a>) You would qualify for a Gold award for your hours this year.

A bit off-topic, but I never got the point of awards. They seem trivial and meaningless to me. I didn't have any awards going into the college app process. Oh well, I'm done :p
