While applying for UCs, I've stumbled upon the section "Awards/Honors"

I have a few entries that I'm planning to input into the section however I do not know if they are appropriate for this section or not.

Would "Concert Master of HS Orchestra", "Second-Chair First Violinist of San Joaquin Orchestra", or "Homecoming Finalist" count as some kind of Honor or do they all belong in the Extra-Curricular Section?

Concert Master sounds more like an extra-curricular.
Violinist in San Joaquin Orchestra is an EC; earning Second chair is an award/honor.
Homecoming finalist is an award/honor (though hardly worth mentioning, heh).

I wouldn’t mention homecoming finalist… talking about homecoming/ blatant popularity contests as an extracurricular could actually hurt your application.

I disagree. Something like homecoming/prom king shows that you’re sociable and well liked. Makes you multi-dimentional, particularly considering that no other part of your application (other than an interview maybe) will speak you your social skills and likability. Why would that look bad on your application?

Now, mentioning being a mere finalist may not be worthwhile. Being a runner-up at an intra-highschool competition isn’t really an honor/award.
