<p>I think someone already posted a threead like this- but I can't find it. So i wanted to ask- are awards in 8th grade counted.
In 8th grade I was a state winner for the National Vocabulary Championship- at the time everyone told me that I should include it for college apps. Should i? Would it help?

<p>Awards in 8th grade do not accurately reflect the potential of a college-bound student. Yes, eighth grade was my best year in terms of awards and achievements, as I represented my city and region in the National Spelling Bee, National Geographic Bee, and Mathcounts. However, colleges will not care very much.</p>
<p>^That is correct. Colleges don’t want 8th grade awards they want awards from HS, keep up the good work. (All the vocabulary will def help on the SAT).</p>
<p>If it is a notable national/international competition and you feel strongly about putting it in, include it in the Additional Info after the activities list!</p>
