Ok, this is probably an incredibly dumb question and I think that I know the answer, but…under the awards and recognitions section on an application, is it ok to list awards that you won as a group, like saying that your sports team (or in my case, marching band), for instance, won the state championships or something like that? Or does everything have to be something that you actually won as an individual? I ask this because I have noticed pathetically few things that I can list as awards that I have won, and it looks kind of lame

I think you can. I am doing it.

Really? That is so awesome

yes, of course you can list team awards! If it makes sense, try to describe your role on the team a bit.

Haha, really?? awesome . . i swear everytime i come here, i learn something new to enhance my application.

think of it like they do sports- you don't think players on a soccer team say, won state championship? And many often played not so much, while you marchd, and practiced, and were part of the championship marching band

sure put it down

Of course you put it down. You worked hard with your team to get the award, so you deserve to be recognized for it.

I definitely would put down stuff like that. Being a part of a marching band (or any group/team) that succeeds shows that you had to put in a lot of time and effort.

yea no kidding, and i say team awards are awesome just because they add a little diversity to your awards, and show how much you can work in a team (as a team member)
