Awards section on College App?!!? help!

Does Qualifying for the National Science Bowl count as "any academic distinctions or honors you have received since the ninth grade or international equivalent"?

My team won the regional to get to nationals. I got a certificate of participation even though we did not place in nationals (as it was our first time there).

So it counts as a regional distinction, but what about national distinction?

bump! anyone advice would be appreciated

I think that would count as an honor imo. Generally, if you wanted, you could elaborate in the additional information space.

Put that on for sure. Or maybe have it on your extracurricular section and put “Qualified for Nationals” under positions held / honors won.

The awards section is probably the least impacted. I know people who left the section blank and still got into their choice schools. So yes, if that is one of your awards, definitely put it in!

are you serious? I’d think that leaving any part of the app blank would be disaster, especially for the awards section

You asked a few questions in your post: should I list it as an Honor, and is it regional or national? Of course, list it. You should add that you won regionals.

The Awards section is quite specific, and I do know several people who left it blank because it wasn’t applicable. He goes to Davis. So yes, it may not be at the top of the UC hierarchy but it’s still a good school.
