Hello CC community,
I am a transfer applicant to a number of colleges for the fall 2015 term. My current choice is Georgetown, and I believe I have a very good chance of getting in. However, I have noticed that admission decisions for transfers do not overlap like they did for freshman. For example, Georgetown releases its decision on the 1st of June, but many other colleges have release their decisions prior to that and request a reply as well before the 1st of June. This means that I have to either accept or reject other offers without ever knowing Georgetown’s. Is there some loophole so that I can evaluate all of my choices, or do I simply have to chance it?
Thank you all.
You can often get a college to extend its deadline if you are still waiting on other schools. My son transferred and 2 schools extended their deadlines for him while he was waiting for another college. However, you are correct that the decisions come out at very different times and that means that you may need to accept one school’s offer and pay a non-refundable deposit while you wait for Georgetown.
Optimally, you’d also like to compare financial aid offers and transfer credit evaluations.
Thank you very much @nohablo.
Are the deposits usually expensive? Also, if I do purchase one and then choose another college, do I simply email the first college to tell them of my changed decision?
